How Our Merry 365 Appeal will Help us to Recognise Ability Throughout 2026

This year, we are appealing for donations  towards our schedule of life enriching activities and social events for the people we support…which we deliver throughout the year!

Christmas has its own sparkle, but we strive to provide the vulnerable adults we support with an impactful, meaningful, and sociable day, throughout the 365 days of the year. Doing so provides the vulnerable adults we support with the sense of purpose, pride and achievement that they deserve.

Regular Activity Sessions at our dedicated on-site Skills Centre enable the people we support to engage in enabling creative, expressive, fitness, wellbeing and educational group sessions. These sessions bring laughter, joy, friendship and encourage life-long learning.

As we launch the Merry 365 Appeal to help fund Skills Centre Sessions for the people we support, throughout 2026, we caught up some of the people we support to hear how funds raised this Christmas will benefit them.

“Without the Skills Centre I would get bored and sad. It’s good to do activities, I enjoy my sessions, and I like to achieve things.”

“This year was my first Meath Awards Day, I was a bit nervous at first but I enjoyed getting my certificate and also supporting my friends. I love being on The Meath Football Team and have recently loved taking part in a Drama Sessions- Drama is the best!”

“I enjoy the gym and being in the Meath Choir. I like singing with my friends, it makes me feel happy.”

Whether cooking or singing, playing football or creating a work of art; the people we support are busy honing interpersonal and communication skills, encouraging each other and crucially, recognising ability.

Our Skills Centre is one of the things that sets The Meath apart from other care homes. Having a dedicated place and equally dedicated team of staff and volunteers to deliver a range of skills-based activity sessions, is, in terms of statutory funding and statutory requirements, an ‘add on’. However, for the people we support, sessions form an integral part of their life and wellbeing.

Without fundraised income, we would be unable to offer the people we support the wonderful range of Skills Centre activities that mean so much to them.

How You Can Help...

Please join us in recognising ability. Your donation to our Merry 365 Appeal, no matter how small, will make a positive difference to the lives of the people we support.

While statutory funding alone covers the cost of meeting the most basic needs of the people we support, your support for the Merry 365 appeal will enable adults living with complex epilepsy and disabilities to enjoy the benefits of socialisation and life long learning, not just at Christmas; but throughout 2026.

Thank you
