The Meath Capital Appeal enables us to future-proof our home and services for vulnerable adults over many years to come.
Thank you for helping us reach our £1,100,000 target! Thanks to you, we can complete all the works we hoped to do and ensure the safety of the people who call The Meath home for years to come.
Due to the risks associated with complex epilepsy, the use of modern technologies will reduce the risk to life and provide peace of mind to relatives and our staff who look after our vulnerable residents.
We have now raised funds for the last stage of the Appeal, which is to install air conditioning in the hottest areas in our main building. Residents of The Meath Epilepsy Charity will benefit from the installation of air conditioning in priority areas, bringing comfort and safety.
Heat is a common seizure trigger, therefore the installation of air conditioning will have a direct benefit to many residents. Benefits include seizure reduction due to reduced temperature and the consequent reduction to sleep disturbance.
We could not have done this without all of our supporters so thank you again! All works will be completed by summer 2026 and we will keep you updated on our progress.

The following works are now completed:
We now are finalising the installation of our Emergency Carer On-Call system to help reduce the risk to life for the vulnerable people we support. The installation of air conditioning will commence shortly.
If we raised more than our target of £1.1 m this will be used for other capital projects here at The Meath.

A Word from Richard Lockwood, President of The Meath Capital Appeal
“Having been a supporter of the charity over many years, I am privileged to be President of The Meath Capital Appeal. This appeal enables The Meath to future-proof their facilities and services for vulnerable adults over many years to come. The Meath receive no statutory funding for the upkeep of their buildings. Funds raised through the Capital Appeal will not only enable the charity to preserve their historic Grade II manor house, but will also enable their residents, who live with complex epilepsy and disabilities, to enjoy more comfortable accommodation through the use of latest technologies to keep them as safe as possible.
Please join me in supporting The Meath to care for their future by donating to The Meath Capital Appeal. Thank you.”

“My son’s epilepsy means that he requires regular 30-minute nighttime checks and around the clock care. I’m so happy that he has the support and care of the team at The Meath. An upgraded carer on call system, would support the care staff to prioritise help and respond as quickly as possible when needed, giving my son and myself added peace of mind.”
