We are passionate about recognising individual abilities. Together, we ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential.

Two women smile in a kitchen as together they hold a plate. The plate has quiche and broccoli on it. One woman wears an epilepsy helmet. Both women wear blue jeans a pale green long sleeved top, they stand either side of the plate they are holding. The visual symetry and colour matching hints at the fact that they work as a team, despite one being a staff member and one being a person supported at The Meath Epilepsy Charity.

How long is the wait for a place to live at The Meath?

There is no set amount of time or ‘first come first served waiting list’. If you would like to register your interest for a place to live at The Meath for you or a loved one, please complete our Expression of Interest Form and we will be in touch. We will ask you to come in for a visit and tour and will gather information which will help us understand you/your loved one’s support needs.

The reason we cannot state how long the wait will be is because the houses, although similar, do also have their differences, such as accessibility, equipment, space and atmosphere. Because of this, when a room becomes available, we need to consider the person on our waiting list who we think it will most suit.

Can I come for the day?

We welcome day clients to take part in our day services. We have a range of activities on offer at our Skills Centre Monday-Friday between 9.30am-3.30pm and day clients are also welcome to book a place at our weekend or evening social events.

To find out more, please email admissions@meath.org.uk to discuss and book a tour, after which an expression of interest form will then be completed.

How much does it cost to live at The Meath and is there funding?

Meath residents receive funding packages from the NHS or their local county authority. What each person’s funding package covers is specific to each individual on the basis of the assessed needs of the individual. As individual needs can change, an annual review is a helpful time to raise any changes to support needs. We discuss on-going or new support needs with residents and family members on a regular basis.

We are also reliant on fundraised income in order to cover the cost of the life enriching non-statutory services that we provide.

Do you offer respite care?

Unfortunately, we do not offer respite care at present, but if you or a loved one are in need of a short-term placement this may be possible if we have a suitable vacancy. Please get in touch with us to let us know more.

What services are included for residents?

We offer a wide range of non-statutory services which are available to all residents, this includes onsite GP appointments, support from our in-house Head of Health & Wellbeing and Epilepsy Nurse, weekly activity sessions, social events and outings.

In addition, we offer other healthcare and wellbeing services on site, such as Occupational Therapy,  Sensory Therapy and Physiotherapy*. Some residents receive funding to cover the cost of accessing these services and some do not. If a resident/their family member would like to access services which are not covered by their funding package, then this can be arranged on a paid for basis, subject to need and availability.

While we are proud of our in-house health and wellbeing services, we also work closely with NHS providers to ensure that the people we support can access any free support that is available.

Thanks to our broad range of services and facilities on offer, every resident is able to enjoy the holistic person-centred care they require to live safely, independently and to lead a fulfilled life.

* Services available subject to individual care package funding.
