Meath Awards 2026

The Meath Annual Awards Event is a firm fixture in The Meath calendar!

This important and much-anticipated event took place on 9th July and included a packed day of recognising individuals’ achievements!

Lee Bennett, CEO was privileged to once again present the awards, and he explained why the event is such an important occasion in The Meath Calendar.

“The Meath Awards Event is the highlight of my year. It is wonderful for all at The Meath to dedicate a day to recognising and celebrating the individual achievements made by the people we support.

This event makes me feel very proud of our enabling team of staff and volunteers, as well as the people we support. Together, they have made great progress, and I am thrilled to help them celebrate this success by presenting the Awards. A huge well done to all! “

A Special and Meaningful Award

Celia Prince, Skills Centre Manager, explains that this magical day is the result of lots of hard work throughout the whole year.

“Throughout the year the skills centre staff identify and monitor the many individual achievements that we recognise each week but celebrate together annually at the Awards Event.

As every award is personalised, to reflect the input, progress, and achievements made by the award winner, the receipt of each award is a very special and meaningful moment for all involved. It means a lot of the people we support, their families are our staff team and is not only an uplifting event, but it serves as an inspiration for the year to come!”

The Making of The Magic!

The Skills Centre team worked together to deliver all aspects of the Awards. From setting and decorating the room to tech support, helping seat guests, to serving refreshments, the event shows our team working at its finest! Thank you to our team of staff and volunteers who, together, hosted a wonderful Awards Day for the people we support.

An After Party Awaits

The re-scheduled date for an after-party disco at the Skills Centre is to be confirmed. It was planned for the afternoon of 9th July, but sadly, a person we support was unwell from a seizure on the dance floor- just as the disco was about to start. As staff and paramedics needed space and calm, we had to postpone the event. Many thanks to the people we support for their understanding and flexibility on the day.

The quieter scheduled activity of Bingo at The Hive took place, and participants had a great time.

Why bingo and a disco?

At our most recent Residents’ Forum, the people we support were asked what they would like to see in future events. Discos and bingo were firm favourites, so staff organised them as celebratory activities.

We look forward to sharing news of the After Party Disco in due course!
