Future-proofing our home
The Meath Capital Appeal has enabled us to future-proof our home and services for vulnerable adults over many years to come.
Thank you for helping us reach our £1,100,000 target! Thanks to you, we have completed all the work we hoped to. In so doing, we can ensure the safety and comfort of the people who call The Meath home for years to come.
Due to the risks associated with complex epilepsy, the use of modern technologies will reduce the risk to life and provide peace of mind to relatives and our staff who look after our vulnerable residents.
Our last stage of the Appeal, was to install air conditioning in the hottest areas in our main building. Residents of The Meath Epilepsy Charity are benefiting from the installation of air conditioning in priority areas, bringing comfort and safety.
Heat is a common seizure trigger, the installation of air conditioning will have a direct benefit to many residents during warmer weather. Benefits include seizure reduction due to reduced temperature and the consequent reduction to sleep disturbance. Many of the people we support, their families and our staff members would like to pass on their heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported this important appeal.

The Capital Appeal has enabled:
- Repair and replacement of 90 windows
- Installation of one new disability door
- Replacement of 14 French windows
- Restoration of our beautiful and unique façade
- Fully accessible door to our on-site cafe, The Hive
- Creation of our Woodland Walkway
- Renewal of gym equipment
- Additional CCTV
- Fire detection system
- Emergency carer on-call system
- Air conditioning in the hottest areas
